We lost an outstanding brother and much loved father and husband on Thursday May 7th, 2009 when Jack “Hedo” Sauers from chapter 68 passed away. Jack was laid to rest on Monday June 11th, 2009 at the Edgewater-New Smyrna Cemetery in Edgewater Florida. Jack was a former United States Marine and was given a poignant 21 gun salute at his funeral. Hundreds of people attended the outdoor ceremony including dozens of Boozefighters from Florida, Georgia, Tennessee and Ontario.
Jack and his wife Terri were involved in a single vehicle motorcycle accident the first week of April. While being treated in the hospital a chest x-ray showed a mass in one of his lungs. Several weeks later a biopsy showed he had malignant lung cancer. Jack was told he would only live for 8 months without treatment and possibly 2 years if he underwent chemotherapy and radiation.
The morning of May 7th Jack was having difficulty breathing and was admitted to the Bert Fisher Medical Center in New Smyrna Florida – fittingly known as BFMC. He was immediately taken to ICU and told that he would need a respirator to survive. However, he courageously declined any life saving measures. Jack knew the path he was on and by all accounts did not want to prolong the pain and suffering for his family. He passed away several hours later.
Jack’s obituary can be accessed on-line here.
Condolences to Jack’s family and brothers from chapter 23.

From the March 2009 issue of Easyriders …
Three Cops To Every Biker
WHY HOLLISTER SUCKED
If you’re a long time reader of Easyriders, you know that we don’t generally rag on people. But sometimes we have to come right out and say when something just sucks the big one. Please take a look at the Hollister Run 2008 photos in the March 2009 issue of Easyriders. Our photographer did all he could to take pictures of people having a good time at the July event, but you may notice that the coverage looks … well … tame.
Where are all the bouncin’ boobs? Where are the pics of crazy waitresses giving jello shots to drunken bikers? Where’s the coleslaw wrestling? Yeah. There aren’t any. Know why? COPS! The little burg of Hollister seems to have bought into the concept that all bikers are crazed hellions out to rape your daughters and burn the town to the ground, because they brought out a massive army of police to CONTROL such heinous acts as walking around and looking at vendor tents and eating chicken.
“Hey bro, what do you want to do?”
“Well, we could go over to Corbin’s and look at those goofy three-wheeled things he makes.”
“Yeah, that’s exciting ….”
NOT!
The only truly righteous thing that happened in Hollister during the run was seeing all the old timers from clubs like the BOOZEFIGHTERS and Top Hatters having group shots taken together. Maybe I’ve got this whole thing wrong. Maybe it wasn’t a bike run. Maybe it was really a cop convention. Maybe Hollister is interested in selling lots of donuts to big bellied cops. Maybe that is what this run is all about.
All I know is any town that works this had to make sure you don’t have a good time while pouring your cash into local eateries and bars needs a wake up call. Not that Hollister gives a shit, but we won’t be back.
Oh that’s right, we CAN’T go back anyway. The Hollister City Council cancelled this July’s rally. Why? They couldn’t afford to pay all the COPS!

Boozefighters from across the country were invited to a private tour of the new Harley Davidson Museum in Milwaukee June 26th, 2008. The museum was opened to the public two weeks later on July 12th, 2008. Willie G. made a surprise appearance at the end of the tour and was gracious enough to shake everybody’s hand and have his picture taken with club members numerous times. The photo album is now on-line here, which includes pictures of the Boozefighters tribute bike that is on permanent display at the museum.

Angela and her husband Tony (aka Wizard from Chapter 68 Florida) were involved in a serious bike accident on December 28th, 2008. They were sideswiped by a driver who was using a cell phone and oblivious to the motorcycles riding in the next lane. Angela has sustained a major head injury and facial lacerations. For updates on her condition please contact any member from Chapter 68, or stop by the All American Club on US 1 in Edgewater Florida if you’re in the area. She is being cared for at the Halifax Medical Center in Daytona Beach. Chapter 23 will be keeping Angela, Tony and their three children; Ray, Lee and Lauren in our prayers.
*** UPDATE January 7th, 2009 ****
Angela was taken completely off sedatives on January 5th, 2008. She hasn’t regained full consciousness, but is responding to tactile stimuli. The pressure on her brain has subsided and her blood pressure has been stable for several days. They inserted a feeding tube today, which she resisted the past two times they attempted to do so. Her current prognosis is cautiously optimistic.
*** UPDATE February 4th, 2009 ***
Angela was recently transferred to a rehab center in Green Cove Springs Florida. She has regained consciousness and has been able to wash her face, put on her socks by herself, walk with the assistance of other people and answer yes and no questions by nodding her head. She hasn’t regained the ability to speak, but is undergoing therapy. While the news is more positive than last month she still has a long road ahead of her. Everybody’s best wishes are appreciated.

From Spunk:
This really sucks when you have to write shit like this ….. During the afternoon of Wednesday November 5th Lucky Dog was hit by the rear wheels of a tractor trailer that separated from the axle. He was rushed to Baptist Hospital where the doctors attempted to stabilize him with no success. He passed at 1:25am Thursday November 6th. It is with a heavy heart that I am conveying this to you. His family is giving us a little time to let people know so anyone that wishes to come can make it. I ask that you keep his family and friends in your prayers.

Boozefighters Chapter 67
Furlow, Arkansas
From Hub Cap:
LD, I cant express how you will be missed. You were a pillar in the Chapter. Holdin’ things together and each of us up on occasion. Trying to make sure we stayed out of trouble, or at least big trouble anyway.
We didnt always agree, but we always respected.
We each can reach down deep and think of countless times we have spent with you. I will not forget the help and support you have shown to us all.
You will be remembered in many ways, by many folks, but bottom line is that you will hold a special place in the hearts and minds of us all.
I wish I could be there, but I know you understand …
Love ya Bro.
PS – Tell Bud we all love him too. Wherever y’all are it is a sure thing that Bud is leading y’all on the scenic tour and you are sleeping well …

From Hef:
We lost another one, I spent some time with Tomcat, he was a really good guy – going to be missed for sure.
From a local newspaper:
A Virginia motorcyclist died Wednesday afternoon after colliding with an 18-wheeler on Interstate 20.
Boss Thomas Dolen, 55, of Highland Springs, VA. was driving a blue 2009 Harley Davidson when he entered the interstate eastbound near mile marker 279 in Tye.
Dolen merged left into traffic from the on ramp and failed to yield to the 18-wheeler, hitting the side of the big rig, said Department of Public Safety Sgt. Larry Adams. He struck the right side of 18-wheeler near the rear tires, he said.
The 18-wheeler was en route to Maine from Odessa, according to a DPS news release.
There was no indication that the motorcyclist was under the influence of drugs or alcohol and he had been wearing a helmet, Adams said.
DPS spokesman Sparky Dean said it was unclear why Dolen was in the Abilene area.
Tomcat passed away Wednesday October 15th, 2008. Our apologies for the delay in posting this sad news, but we have been on the road at Fall Nationals in Texas and Biketoberfest in Florida. Belated condolences to Tomcat’s family and brothers from Chapter 23.

The Boozefighters Canada would like to thank all of our brothers for hosting another excellent national gathering in Texas and extending first class hospitality once again at Biketoberfest in Florida.
Unfortunately our cameras either had dead batteries, or were forgotten at home, so we don’t have any pictures to post from either event this year. If you have pictures that we can post please leave us a note in our guest book with your email address and we will get in touch with you. Thanks.
